House with a void · Drenthe
The brief was short: make it warm and intimate. In a house of large rooms that is harder than it sounds.
Large rooms do not become intimate by filling them, but by giving them the right scale. So we chose substantial pieces; smaller ones would disappear and only make the space look bigger.
The colours are kept quiet. The contrast sits in the textures placed beside each other, not in the tones.

The design
Above the void hangs the Bel-Air by Stout. It sets the height: without a fitting like that the void stays an empty gap, with this light it becomes the thing you look at.
Decorative lighting is not an accessory here but a design tool. Used sparingly it is the difference between spacious and luxurious.

The first phase
Phase one of the journey, also on its own.
Two layouts per room, drawn or in 3D, the materials and a first indication of the cost. At your home or entirely remote, and you decide about the rest afterwards.
